Sunday Mornings

Lesson for Sunday, June 20

Biblical Truth
Our teaching should lead people to live Godly lives as evidence of the grace of God.

Context
The third lesson in the Transfer series is the final focus on teaching the Word. This lesson builds on the importance of teaching people how to live in a way that is pleasing to God. In a world that has shifting values about what is right, Paul's letter to Titus gives believers clear instructions for Godly living. As we mature in our understanding of the gospel, our salvation influences every area of our lives. Godly living says “no” to things that are wrong and “yes” to things that are right. While we must show these values in our actions, we must also clearly teach them to others so that the message is faithfully passed on.

Learning Goals
Explore Goal: Students will learn that teaching through the things they say and do must promote Godly living.
Transform Goal: Students will begin to value the importance of living Godly lives.

Lesson for Sunday, June 27

Biblical Truth
Faith in the Lord is inseparable from love for others.

Context
The process that we see in Scripture for reaching the nations includes four broad components. We are to share the Word, show the Word, teach the Word, and serve the world. The first of these was explored in the first three lessons of Transfer. We now turn our attention to the principle of service. Just as Jesus came as a servant, God’s people model His goodness by serving others. Throughout the Bible, faith in God and love for others are inseparable. Paul notes this connection in his greeting to Philemon. Philemon’s reputation was grounded in his faith and in his love. Paul encouraged him to continue to share his faith actively. We will find opportunities to share the gospel as we develop a reputation of faith in the Lord and put our love into action.

Learning Goals
Explore Goal: Students will learn that their faith in Christ is demonstrated in their love and service for others.
Transform Goal: Students will apply their understanding by determining ways to demonstrate faith through interaction with others.

Sunday Evenings

Starting Point is a lesson series developed by Andy Stanley and NorthPoint Community Church. This resource offers priceless truths that are meant to help our students build a healthy foundation for their faith. We will carry this series through the summer and into the early fall with a twofold purpose 1) increase their faith and 2) equip them to open conversations with others about their faith. Check out all the resources that go along with this study. I'm sure you will find them quite interesting!

Topic 1 - June 6 and June 13

Scripture. The Bible provides a reliable historical account of what Jesus said and did. In this lesson we look at ancient manuscript evidence and decide for ourselves if the Bible is reliable. Check out a few links and messages below.

Topic 2 - Creation - June 20

Deep inside, our instincts tell us that there's something bigger going on in the universe. We're not simply random bunches of molecules that assemble for seventy years and then die, eventually forgotten. Even the natural world around us suggests that there is a master Creator...a big God. And within his big purpose for his CREATION, we experience our greatest sense of purpose when we find our places in the story...his big story.

A Few Verses:

Psalm 33:6-9 reminds us of God's great power.

Isaiah 40:1-31 comfort us because we see that God is in control of the world.

Acts 17:22-28 we read about Paul's speech about God in Athens.

Romans 1:20 states how we all can see something about God in creation.

Check out Planet Earth. A documentary about the wonders of the world. Try watching a few and ask yourself "Is this by chance?"
