David is pastor and head of staff and has served Swift Creek since August 2018. He is passionate about the transformation God’s grace has on those who commit their lives to Christ. Preaching from God’s word each Sunday brings him great joy, as do the one-on-one conversations with guests and members throughout the week.
He received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Master of Divinity from Union Presbyterian Seminary. Having lived in Chesterfield County since 2007, David considers the Richmond area his home. He and his wife Nicole have two children, Ethan and Grace. A miniature poodle named Scarlett rounds out their family. In his spare time, David enjoys sailing, baseball, and seeing new places.

Wendy Hicks

Wendy Hicks brings innovation and energy with the love she displays as Kidmin & Engagement Director. As an official “Chesterfieldonian”, she draws on her career experience in business and retail to carefully nurture and challenge. For those of you who shopped at Ukrop’s, where she worked her way up to management, you’ll quickly see the same values not only displayed by Wendy but invested in the children. She’s a go-to and get-it-done valued member of our staff, who joined our leadership team September 2010. A graduate of Liberty University (2014), she has a husband (John, who serves in our audio/visual area) and son (Matthew, always willing to help) and a dog named Sundae (a rescue). Wendy volunteers with Mercy Mall and enjoys an evening around the campfire and going to yard sales in the never ending pursuit of a good deal.

Robbie joined Swift Creek as the Youth Director in the summer of 2021. He is passionate about connecting students with Jesus and one another. A graduate of Liberty University in 2020, Robbie is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity at Union Presbyterian Seminary.

Elaine lavergne

Elaine joined Swift Creek as our female youth leader in 2022, though she's been part of the Swift Creek family for years! She works side-by-side with our Youth Director and is a constant presence for all our students. She helps with Youth Group each Sunday night, leads the girls bible study, and is always ready to jump in and help, or sit and listen. When not at church or spending time with her dog, Ellie, Elaine is an English teacher at Manchester High School.

Brian Shaw
Praise Team Leader

Brian brings his passion for the Lord and for music together as Praise Team Leader at Swift Creek. Working closely with the other band members, Brian plans the songs for each Sunday, special services such as Christmas and Easter, and holds worship nights for the community to come together. In addition to leading the Praise Team, Brian also plays the drums each Sunday.

Zach perkins

Zach joined Swift Creek's praise team in November of 2022. His love for Jesus shines through with his vocal leadership of our worship services. Following the Spirit's movement, Zach also enjoys playing guitar as an act of worship. He collaborates with Brian Shaw and the other band members on the songs for each weekend.

nancy crenshaw

Nancy Crenshaw is the Music Director at the 11 am traditional service. Having joined Swift Creek in 1997, she directs the Adult Choir and the Adult Handbells. A native of Chesterfield County and a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Church, Nancy graduated from Longwood College in 1973 with a degree in Music Education. Now retired, she taught music in Chesterfield County Schools for 30 years, the last twenty-five being at Clover Hill Elementary. She was honored with becoming the first fine arts teacher to receive the award of being the Chesterfield County Teacher of the Year in 2004. In her spare time, she enjoys working on the family genealogy and gardening. Her family includes her husband, Jack, a son, Kenny, who lives in Charlotte, NC and a daughter, Karen, who lives in Hanover, VA. She has one grandson, Austin, whom she adores!

nikki stanleigh
Accompanist
Nikki Stanleigh serves as the pianist/accompanist for the 11:00 am Traditional Service. She joined the music ministry at Swift Creek in March of 2019. Nikki received a Bachelor’s of Music in Music Education from the Eastman School of Music and a Master’s of Music in Music Education from the University of Maryland, College Park. She enjoys hiking, knitting, attending her two children’s various sporting events, and of course, music.

Meredith Edwards

Meredith joined Swift Creek’s staff in 2019. She earned her Master’s Degree in Biology from VCU.
She is originally from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina but has been in the Richmond area for about 25 years. She had worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry for about 20 years before joining Swift Creek.
Her family includes her husband, Bill and her son, Hank. They reside in the Midlothian area. Day to day she stays busy with a multitude of sports that her son is involved in. In her spare time, she enjoys walking, enjoying the outside and crafting.

Elders, Deacons and Trustees
Ruling elders are called to ministry in partnership with teaching elders.
Within this calling, ruling elders have responsibilities in several areas of the life of the church
Ordained deacons are called to a ministry of “compassion, witness, and service, sharing in the redeeming love of Jesus Christ for the poor, the hungry, the sick, the lost, the friendless, the oppressed, those burdened by unjust policies or structures, or anyone in distress".
SCPC Trustees are called to take care of our buildings and grounds.
